Aurora Town Hall

Aurora, Ontario

The design for the Aurora Town Hall was the award winning submission in a design / build competition conducted in the spring of 1990.   The complex is the focal point for the town as it rises up a hillside in three levels.    This harmony with the hillside provides a number of at-grade access points to  the building.   The major ceremonial entrance  to the Council Chamber is located on the lower level facing south, adjacent to a Civic Square. A second major entrance, serving many of the municipal departments, is achieved at the north facade of the third level. The circular form of the Council Chamber at the hub of the building makes the building readily understandable to the first time visitor. At each level the individual departments radiate from this hub.
