Richmond Hill, Ontario
This 7,000m2 building was designed to house a facility that packages, stores, and distributes exotic fruit juices. The main floor area contains a bottling hall finished to a high standard to facilitate compliance with Federal Food Hygiene regulations, as well as a freezer, dry warehouse, process equipments and space for internal expansion. The upper floor contains administrative offices.
Unfortunately, the Town of Richmond Hill had other aspirations for this site and, as a result, were obstructive throughout the approvals process, imposing unreasonable constraints and demands on the building form and apperance. Despite this, a fairly succesful solution evolved which satisfied the Client's programme and is not too far removed from the original concept.
